Platform sneakers stack the sole. Sizing

Leave about a centimetre of room ahead of your longest toe. A sneaker is a walking shoe, and your foot moves forward as you walk.

On platform and boot constructions, check the shaft fit too if the shaft covers your ankle.

Leather: wipe, condition occasionally, and rest them a day between wears.

White anything: clean it the same week it gets marked, not the same month. White leather and synthetic recover easily; white canvas does not once the stain has set.

What to buy first

If you want one pair that does everything: black sneaker in leather or microfiber, rubber outsole, minimal branding. It works with every trouser you own and does not look like sportswear.
